Hi DJpud

This is a really good attempt if you have just started out. I really like the analogue rift that drops in @ 3.00 mins.

I don't know how long you have been engineering, so Is hard to assess your knowledge but I can hear some muddying @5.44 when everything is in.

Eq and compression are an engineers best tools for getting the mix spot on so learn as much as you can on how to use them.

I am interested as to why you chose Nuendo over Cubase, but at the end of the day they both do pretty much the same job.

Have you tried rewiring Reason into your set ?
I highly re-commend it.

I am not slaggin off acid here, I started out with it and it is a great scratchpad for handling and stretching your loops, but honestly mate, any engineer worth his salt will be able to hear it is being used (it's timestretching algorithm is nothing compared to Ableton's or Nuendo/Cubase)

I find it is easier to chop up your loops in Recycle and drop them into the Rex player in Reason. You get much more control and better sound quality and because you are using slices, timestretching doesn't become an issue. Any other loop control can be taken care of by Ableton (also Rewired).

Best bit of advice I can give you regarding using loops, is DON'T (as much as possible).

If it is a rift loop, try and find a plugin instrument and play the rift yourself. If that is not an option, Recycle it. That way you can play many variations on the loop via your midi controller keyboard and come up with some rifts of your own. It makes it feel like it is more "yours" if that makes sense.

Same advice If it is a drumloop. I never use the original loops straight out of the box.
Slice them up in Recycle, then change the individual sounds for your own. You get the same beat but you are not constrained to using the same sounds. You can also come up with many variations on the original loop.
Basically You can have any drumkit you want playing the original beat and again, it makes the beats "your own".

Back to your original track. Only constructive criticism I have is it is a bit muddy in places and levels are slightly up and down, this is easily fixed with EQ and compression, especially on drums, bass and vocals.

Apart from that keep it up dude as you are definitely on your way.

Respect
Bee Very Happy

Hey just wanted to thank Beepm for the good advice on using the right tools for the creative minds. I haven't installed Ableton yet but too many people are recommending it. I think i have a fear of new programs, just got comfortable using one and the next all-singing all-dancing bit of software is set to replace it.
Also agree with the idea of encouraging D.E regulars to offer their version of a mix if accapellas + samples are posted. May help create a collective effort for a club anthem. Also gives DJs to offer something back in return for the cool tunes they have access to from this site.

Hey Guys! I've been doing a few, quiet a few mash-ups over the last few years. I'll upload them for your judgement within the next few weeks. Just to give you an idea:
